According to TechCrunch, SpaceX is a space transport service company with the mission to reduce space transportation costs and enable the colonization of Mars. SpaceX was founded by 46-year-old Elon Musk in 2002 and is the first privately funded company to launch a liquid-fueled rocket into reach orbit and recover a spacecraft. SpaceX was also the first private company to send a spacecraft to the ISS, and also the first private company to send a satellite into geosynchronous orbit.

On February 6 of 2018, SpaceX launched the worlds heaviest rocket to make it out of orbit, the Falcon Heavy. On Youtube, you can even watch a live feed with a full view of the Tesla and fake astronaut, who is now named Starman. The Falcon Heavy is a breakthrough in rocket technology not only because it is the heaviest ever made, but it also has the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb), and it also can lift more than twice the payload of the Delta IV Heavy, at 1/3 the cost.

Future launches are being planned by SpaceX the most recent of these is the Falcon 9, which is supposed to be launched on February 21 of 2018 after being postponed because of tech issues.  Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of satellites and the Dragon spacecraft. SpaceX believes rocket reusability is the key breakthrough needed to reduce the cost of access to space and enable people to live on other planets.

Elon Musk has also stated that he plans to land humans on Mars by the year 2020. With The Falcon heavy the rockets that were used landed themselves, helping reduce the cost of sending people into space. SpaceX has tons of potential for the future of space travel and even the colonization of planets, and with the launch of the Falcon Heavy, he is making great progress towards his goal. With most of the population interested in the colonization of other planets this is a huge step towards achieving humanity’s goal.
