On October the 1st in the Mandalay Bay hotel across from a country music festival, at approximately 10 pm, there was a massacre.  64-year-old Stephen Paddock began to fire at the people attending a Jason Aldene concert during the festival. According to some authorities, the first shots were not fired onto the concert crowd; instead, as Paddock was trying to get into the hotel, he shot a security guard named Jesus Campos.  This occurred six minutes before the mass shooting. The officials report that Stephen had 23 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The following reports say that he killed over 50 people, and injured over 500 people, making it one of the biggest mass shootings in United States modern history.

President Trump later stated, “Fellow Americans, we are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief. Last night a gunman opened fire on a large crowd at a country music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. He brutally murdered more than 50 people and wounded hundreds more. It was an act of pure evil. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working closely with local authorities to assist with the investigation, and they will provide updates as to the investigation and how it develops.”

NBC later came out with a remembrance video.  If you would like to watch, visit their website. All of our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
