Summer has its days of sunshine and fun adventures. Therefore being refreshed and hydrated should never be taken for granted. With the upcoming events along with hot weather coming our way, it is an honor of mine to tell you my top 3 favorite beverage recipes for the scolding hot summer days, as well as being healthy. Being healthy is a very important aspect that a majority of people don’t take advantage of. If you’re looking for a little somethin’ that won’t disrupt your summer body, this article is for you.

      1) Coconut Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups of fresh squeezed lemon juice, from about nine lemons
  • 1 ¾ cups of sugar
  • 8 cups of coconut water
  • 4 cups of water
  • ½ cups of the recipe Lavender Simple Syrup

Directions:

  1. Place lemon juice, sugar, coconut water, and water into a pitcher and shake (or stir) vigorously until all the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Pour ½ of the lavender syrup into the pitcher and stir. You can add more or less lavender syrup to your personal taste.

Lavender Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 ½ cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of dried lavender
  • A few drops of food coloring (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine the sugar, water, and laender in a medium, heavy bottomed saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil on high heat, and boil for one minute.
  3. Remove from the heat, cover and let the lavender steep in the syrup for 20 minutes.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender, add the food coloring (optional).
  5. Set syrup aside to cool.
  6. Once cooled, place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to one week.

     2)   Strawberry-Lemon Punch

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of frozen pink lemonade concentrate
  • 1 pt. of ripe strawberries
  • 6 ¼ cups of cold water
  • 1 qt. of ginger-ale
  • Whole strawberries

Directions:

  1. Process lemonade concentrate, hulled strawberries and one cup of water in the blender (or food processor) until berries are liquified.
  2. Pour lemonade into a punch bowl (or pitcher) and stir the remaining 5 ¼ cups of cold water. Gradually stir in ginger ale. Serve over ice. Garnish with whole strawberries

3) Non-Alcoholic Pineapple Mojito 

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 pieces of 1-2″ pineapple pieces
  • 4-5 leaves fresh mint
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 cup chilled grape juice (if possible freshly prepared at home)
  • 1/2 chilled sparkling water or soda
  • 1 tsp agave (optional to adjust sweetness)
  • Ice cubes to serve
  • Few lime slices to garnish

Directions:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, add pineapple pieces and muddle them using the back of a wooden spatula for a couple of mins or until all pineapple pieces have broken into small pieces. Then, add mint leaves and again muddle for a few seconds to just bruise the leaves and release the essential flavors.
  2. Transfer the muddled mixture into a serving glass. Add ice cubes followed by grapejuice, lime juice, sparkling water or soda.
  3. Adjust sweetener if necessary.

     4.Give it a gentle mix, add couple of lime slices and enjoy a glass of pineapple mojito this summer

These are my top 3 favorite beverages to drink in the summer to stay hydrated along with being incredibly healthy with almost all natural ingredients. And whether or not you have a sweet tooth or you’re looking for something to drink while keeping that summer body, these drinks will for sure take your breath away along with bringing your taste buds to a pure joy!
