Here summer break comes and we’re all looking for fun things to keep us busy during this hot vacation! So, here’s some simple and quick ideas for summer fun!

Now I’m sure any of us who enjoy sugar drinks have a few packages of Kool-aid stored away somewhere, but did you know that you can use Kool-aid for a sweet syrup to go with a snow cone? Ooh yeeaah! During the heat of summer, have a homemade snow cone with a sickly sugary tropical taste of Kool-aid on top!

What you’ll need:

-Kool-aid packet(s) (any flavor)

-Ice (ice, baby!)

-2 cups of sugar

-1 cup of water

-Medium sauce pan

-Syrup bottles (condiment bottles)

-Food processor or snow cone machine

-Snow cone cups

In a sauce pan heat up your 1 cup of water and stir in your 2 cups of sugar. Let that boil for about a minute or two. Then remove your pan from the heat and stir in your package of Kool-aid. Give it a bit too cool and then carefully, using a funnel, pour it into a syrup bottle or a condiment bottle (you can get condiment bottles at the Dollar store). Set in the fridge too cool while you prepare your snow cones. You can use an actually snow cone machine or a food processor to crush up your ice for your snow cones and then go head and empty the crushed up ice, ‘snow’, into your cone shaped cups. You can now go ahead and add the syrup and take your delicious icy treats outside in the heat to keep cool! Just be careful! The ‘snow’ might melt!

This next one is a bit of a cold guilty pleasure for summer, a root beer float popsicle! Ice cream swimming in root beer in the form of a popsicle! Who would’ve thought of it?

What you’re going to need:

– Root beer

– Ice cream! (Vanilla)

– Popsicle molds

– Popsicle sticks (this depends on whether or not your molds come with sticks)

Get your root beer nice and cold first, but not frozen. By the way you can buy a 2 liter bottle of off brand root beer from the dollar store for, obviously, a dollar. Then pull it out along with your ice cream, and basically you’re going to layer the ice cream and root beer in the molds in whatever way you want. Then stick your sticks in the mix and then pop it in the freezer. Pull it out after a few hours or whenever you’re ready to have your root beer ice cold treat.

Alright now here’s a little bit more of a creative drink with only a few ingredients for it! Ocean water is a neat little drink but it tastes nothing like the big blue, instead it’s taste is actually sweet.

What you’ll need:

– 1 teaspoon of coconut extract

– Blue food coloring

– 2 cans of lemon lime soda

– 3 tablespoons of water

– 3 tablespoons of sugar

– A pitcher

– A small bowl/dish

In your small bowl/dish, microwave your water and sugar for about 35 seconds and then go ahead and pour that into your pitcher. Pour in your soda after that and add about 3 drops of blue food coloring (add more if you want a deeper color). Stir in your teaspoon of coconut extract and then mix everything together. Add some ice, and then let it chill in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. When you serve it, you can always add Swedish Fish to your drink to make it look more like the ocean!

Everybody loves hot chocolate, at least I think everybody does, but it’s not something to drink during the summer now, is it? Unless you made frozen hot chocolate. It’s just the same delicious drink except it’s not longer ‘hot’!

What you’re going to need:

– 1 1/2 cups of chocolate milk

– 2 teaspoons of hot cocoa mix

– 1 – 2 cups of ice cubes

– Whipped cream

Pour your milk into a blender and add your ice cubes and hot cocoa mix. Take your time blending it on high speed until it’s smoothly blended. Pour it out and serve it up with whipped cream on top, and you can even add things like chocolate shavings or cinnamon to the top! Whatever you want to do!

Those are some really sweet and good treats that’ll keep y’all cool during the heat. I’ll definitely be having and enjoying these during the summer, and I hope you do the same and at least try some of these recipes because they look absolutely delicious!
