Portland Thorns start their season off well! With 2 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie, the Thorns are now looking forward to playing FC Kansas City this weekend.

They just recently got their first tie against Seattle Reign. In just the first minute of the match Jess Fishlock, a Seattle midfielder,  hit a long shot outside of the 18 yard box and scored. The Thorns came back in the 35th minute with an own goal from Fishlock deflecting a cross pass from Hayley Raso. Then, at nearly the end of the half, Seattle’s Merritt Mathias scored another goal to conclude the first half.

In the second half, the Thorns came back firing. They had more than 6 shots on goal in the last 45 minutes of the game. It wasn’t until the 82nd minute that Allie Long scored the equalizer off of a header from Meghan Klingenberg’s cross.

The Thorns finished the game by shaking hands with Seattle and thanking the fans.
